Larry Bond first developed the board game "Harpoon" in 1980.  As Larry states, it was "designed as a general-purpose air, surface, and submarine naval simulation".  Harpoon "combines playability with a wealth of information on modern naval weapons systems".  Although it was originally to be for the entry-level gamer, it is used at several of the military "trade schools".

As a computer game, Harpoon has been hampered in recent years by the bankruptcy of 360 Pacific in 1996.  But there remains a big following and the best available resource for Harpoon fans is Dr. Who's Harpoon Page.   At this page is information on both of the Harpoon computer games which were first brought out in 1990 and 1994.  Harpoon II, which appeared in 1994, was also republished in 1996 by EIDOS and remains available in bargain bins and other secondary computer game retailers.  Harpoon II has been dramatically extended through database and scenario additions constructed by Harpooners around the World.  Dr. Who's page includes much of these extensions. The current version of the game is Harpoon 4.

On November 12, 1997, Stratgic Simulations, Inc. (SSI) announced that they would code Larry Bond's latest Harpoon board game for computers.  SSI was purchased by Ubi Soft and the game (Harpoon 4) will be released in October of 2003.  The game web site is here.
