Clancy divorced his first wife, Wanda, in 1998 after 27-29 years of marriage (depending on which source you use).  The divorce became much more public than TC ever would have liked because of his simultaneous attempts to purchase the Minnesota Vikings.  According to Mr. Showbiz News, Mrs. Clancy had filed for divorce two years prior (1996) with the reason given in her petition being that her husband had "committed adultery with one Katherine Huang," who was a New York assistant district attorney he supposedly met on the Internet.  This was also reported in MSN Entertainment here.

Along with his personal life, Clancy's financial data became public as a result of the Vikings purchase attempt.  An article, written by WCCO of Minneapolis, provides many of the details and is available here: Paper Probes Clancy Cash Crunch.  The attempt to buy the Vikings is chronicled in this article and associated links: It's Official: Clancy Chapter Closed

According to a story in New Jersey Online, Clancy, 52 at the time, married Alexandra Marie Llewellyn, 32, on June 26, 1999.   This wedding was also reported in MSN Entertainment here.  It was previously reported in the Washington Post that he was to marry a niece of Colin Powell just after the divorce to his first wife was finalized.  We may never know for sure given Mr. Clancy's zealous protection of his personal life.

Larry Bond

The following is the autobiographic sketch Larry Bond sent to the Harpoon mailing list.

Biographical Sketch: Larry Bond is 45 and lives with his wife Jeanne and daughters Katie and Julia in Virginia outside Washington DC. He is the designer of the Harpoon and Command at Sea gaming systems and several supplements for the games. He also co-authored Red Storm Rising with Tom Clancy and has recently finished The Enemy Within, published by Warner Books in hardcover February 1996, and softcover February 1997. He has three other novels to his credit, Red Phoenix, Vortex and Cauldron.

Larry's writing career started by collaborating with Tom Clancy on Red Storm Rising, a runaway New York Times bestseller that has been called one of the best-selling books of the 1980s. It depicted a hypothetical conflict between NATO and the Warsaw Pact, drawing heavily on current analysis of what such a conflict would be like. It has been used as a text at the Naval War College and similar institutions.

Since then, Larry's books have depicted military and political crises, emphasizing accuracy and fast-paced action. Red Phoenix , Vortex, and Cauldron were all New York Times bestsellers. Red Phoenix was set in South Korea and depicted an invasion of the south by a decaying North Korean government. Vortex told the story of a reactionary Afrikaner government trying to roll back the clock in South Africa. Cauldron showed a financial crisis in Europe that grew out of control, leading to a military confrontation between France and the United States.

Larry's Harpoon gaming system was first published in 1980. Designed as a general-purpose air, surface, and submarine naval simulation, it combines playability with a wealth of information on modern naval weapons systems. Designed for the entry-level player, it has found acceptance in both the commercial market and the professional naval community. It is used at the Naval Academy, several ROTC installations, and on several surface ships as a training aid.

Now in its fourth edition, Harpoon has won the H.G. Wells Award, a trade association honor, in both 1981 and 1987 as the best miniatures game of the year. It is the only game to win the award twice. The computer version of the game first appeared in 1990, and won the 1990 Wargame of the Year award from Computer Gaming World, an industry journal. An updated version of the single-player game has been released, and a multiplayer version is in preparation.

Command at Sea is Larry's latest game, and is an adaptation of Harpoon to the WW II era. Like Harpoon, it emphasizes both playability and historical accuracy, drawing on many contemporary sources.

Graduating from St. Thomas College, St. Paul, Minnesota in 1973 with a degree in Quantitative Methods, Larry worked first as a computer programmer for two years before being selected for Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He was sworn into the Navy in 1975 and graduated from OCS the following year.

Larry was in the Navy for six years, serving four on a destroyer and two on shore duty in the Washington DC area. He served in the reserves for two years with the Naval Reserve Intelligence Program. After leaving the Navy he worked as a naval analyst for defense consulting firms in the Washington, DC area. He now writes and designs games full-time.

Larry is an avid wargamer and modeler.

Martin H. Greenberg

Editor of "The Tom Clancy Companion" and co-creator of "Tom Clancy's Power Plays: Politika".  It appears that Mr. Greenberg is the editor of at least some Clancy novels as well.

John D. Gresham

Titled as "Series Researcher" of Tom Clancy's non-fiction "guided tour" books. No other data available.  He has no books to his sole credit even though he is a major contributor to the "guided tour" books.

Jeff Rovin

In the Op-Center books, Mr. Rovin is thanked for his "invaluable contribution to the manuscript." This is taken to mean that Mr. Rovin is the manuscript author. Jeff Rovin appears to have a number of books to his credit ranging from "Adventure Heroes : Legendary Characters from Odysseus to James Bond" to "Broken Arrow: A Novelization" (which appears to be the novel associated with the popular motion picture). While not well known, Mr. Rovin appears to have been involved in a number of behind-the-scenes projects.

General Fred Franks, USA (Ret.)

General Franks was the 3-star General commander of the VI Corps in Desert Storm.  VI Corps was the "fist" in General Schwarzkopf's plan for the liberation of Kuwait and destruction of the Iraqi Republican Corps.  General Franks was promoted to 4-star General and took over the U.S. Army's Training and Doctrine Command before retiring.  General Franks co-wrote "Into the Storm: A Study in Command" with Tom Clancy.  He has now joined Red Storm Entertainment and was involved in the game Force 21.

General Chuck Horner, USAF (Ret.)

General Horner was the air component commander in Desert Storm under General Schwarzkopf.  General Horner was subsequently promoted to four-stars and took over command of U.S. Space Command.  After retirement, General Horner co-wrote the second "Study in Command" book with Tom Clancy, Every Man a Tiger.

General Carl Stiner, USA (Ret.)

General Stiner rose to become CINCSOC through the ranks of Special Forces and the Airborne.  General Stiner commanded the forces involved in the Panama invasion but was also part of several very interesting special operations.  General Stiner co-wrote the third "Study in Command" book with Tom Clancy, Shadow Warriors.
